SMMP LENTEN GIVING JOURNEY OF HOPE
HOPE WAS IN THE AIR AT SMMP’S MINISTRY FAIR - RAISING AWARENESS OF CHILDREN’S EDUCATION IN ALENGA AND GOMI, UGANDA
FOUNDER OF U4UGANDA, DOLORES BOPP POTTERTON, SITS IN A DESK, LIKE THE ONES THE CHILDREN SIT IN AT SCHOOL. EACH DESK SEATS THREE CHILDREN, SOMETIMES MORE IF THE CHILDREN ARE SMALL.
Parishioners of all ages stopped by U4U’s table to learn more about the educational needs of children in the impoverished villages U4U supports, and how their almsgiving will be used to bring hope through education to the poorest of the poor.
U4U’s PRIORITIES
SUPPORT EVERY CHILD TO GO TO SCHOOL, STAY IN SCHOOL, AND RAISE THEM OUT OF THE DIRT AND INTO A DESK TO HELP THEM BETTER LEARN, IMPROVE HEALTH, GIVE THEM DIGNITY AND STRENGTHEN THEIR SELF ESTEEM AND CONFIDENCE
“Education is the only means which can break the cycle of poverty for the people I’m serving. I come to you asking you to support these children. Many families live on less than $1 a day. ”
“We were sitting down on the ground and writing down, but right now we have desks - performance has improved, students are proud, and they are happy.”
Children in Alenga and Gomi have dreams and aspirations just like our children do. Watch and listen to what they want to be.
Robinson Oguta is one of U4U’s success stories. He completed primary education, went on to the equivalent of our high school, and then to university. He heard we were coming, so he came to see us. Listen to what he had to say …
